On 17th April 2018 the final event and the ceremony of “Youth and social business: become actors of change” took place in Sala Maggiore of Palazzo Comunale in Pistoia.

The nobel prize for peace Professor Muhammed Yunus, guest of the ceremony, awarded the winners of the contest organized within the program “Youth and Social Business” that is an educational project for high school students and promoted by Social Business Lab Pistoia.

34 groups of students involved in “Youth and social business” took part in the contest of social business ideas. The 10 finalists groups of the contest were awarded during the event by Professor Muhammad Yunus.

A group of girls (from Istituto Pacini) won the first prize with the project “Impresa Bonistalli & co. dal 1904”: the project’s aim is to transform a working business in Pistoia, based on the production and sale of typical food products, in a social business thanks to social disadvantaged people’s employment.

The students of IV AFM of San Marcello Institute won the second prize thanks to the project TAL (Take a Leap). They proposed the creation of a leisure centre with a high social impact for the territory of Pistoia’s mountain.

The third place for Bioorto – Naturalmente biologico Pistoia, a project of biological and social agriculture presented by a group of students from Istituto Pacini in Pistoia.

The first group won a journey in Glasgow (Scotland) to find out the best Social Businesses of the city; the second one won a journey to Turin to visit some examples of social projects and social businesses; the third group won a gift card they can spend in a library in Pistoia.
